MICROCAR

The collaboration with Patriarca Automobili Spa continues for the production of some four-wheel vehicle models in the L7 category with the design of the chassis and bodies.

In the case of four-wheel minicars (L7) the aim has always been to provide an urban vehicle of small dimensions but with the technical characteristics of M1 category vehicles, offering comfort and handling performance obtained thanks to the independent McPherson type suspension.

Work done : executive and construction design, production.

To simulate the dynamic performance of a race car single-seater, the chassis was rebuilt at 1:5 scale according to the original design shown here in 3D. In this case, the central chassis is made of composite material using additive manufacturing and assembled with the front and rear aluminum subframes.
The model is complete with radio control components such as servos and receiver, electric motor, and batteries. Even the wheels, for reasons of dimensional and material similarity, are mounted according to the real model to respect the wheelbase and track. Furthermore, the model will be equipped with sensors suitable for the type of testing the client wishes to perform.

Design Experience

The development process of a vehicle or other system sometimes involves the creation of scale models to test certain features.

This procedure was used primarily in the aerospace sector, where indoor testing is more complex.

The tests carried out on the scale models involve the application of the similitude theory (Buckingham – Pi Theorem) by applying dimensionless systems and the scale models are usually radio-controlled and equipped with sensors and electronic analysis and control systems.

Depending on the case, however, a saving in terms of costs is evident, including logistical costs or those required for a certain type of computer simulation.

SOLIDE Studio's service consists primarily in the design and mechanical construction of the scale model based on the client's requests or needs.

GTEV - Tilting RC Scale Model

What was designed to test the performance of the real GTEV (Gear Tilting Electric Vehicle – presented on the projects page) is transferred to the 1:5 scale model to test, above all, the tilt and steering system. In this case, the model is not yet equipped with sensors to determine, above all, lateral acceleration and the degree of tilt.
